JAKARTA, Indonesia – All parts of Indonesia is safe for tourists, including Chinese citizens who are seeking to celebrate Chinese New Year in the archipelago, a Tourism Ministry official has said.
Tourism Ministry deputy director of sales missions for Asia Pacific, Jordi Paliama, said despite the recent terrorist attack in Central Jakarta, the capital, as well as other regions in the country, were currently safe to visit.
The ministry expects to attract 1.7 million holidaymakers from China throughout this year.
China is said to be among Indonesia’s main sources of foreign tourist arrivals, alongside Australia, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore.In 2015, over 1.14 million Chinese citizens visited the archipelago, an increase of 18.77 percent from the previous year.
“Indonesia has many attractive tourism destinations for Chinese tourists to visit apart from Bali. We’re currently also developing 10 other main destinations,” said Jordi
