American Airlines Miami-Milan emergency landing: Passengers injured


American Airlines flight 206 tonight managed to make an emergency landing in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador in Northeastern Canada when on a flight from Miami to Milan. The flight was diverted to St John’s, N.L., after hitting heavy turbulence.

A St. John’s Airport spokesperson says many passengers suffered injuries due to the turbulence. 192 passengers and 11 crew were onboard. Medics are on the scene, and ambulances are lined up in front of the airport terminal.

At least two passengers were taken to a local hospital.
