The private sector moved in with needed service in the departure lounge at the Seychelles International Airport.

A new café was officially opened at the departure lounge of the Seychelles International Airport last week. Named Café Paradiso, the new eating area is managed by local company Skychef Servair.

The café was officially opened by Georgia Van Heyste, the daughter of the founder of Skychef Servair the late Panos Papakokinos.

Attending the ceremony were the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange, management members of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority and that of Skychef Servair, as well as Bishop French Chang-Him of the Anglican Diocese.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the chief executive of the company Neville Morel said the launch of the café is timely as it coincides with the efforts by the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority to renovate and upgrade the departure lounge.
He added that Skychef Servair is happy to have been given the chance to open a new snack bar, delivering five-star service that visitors to our shores are expecting.
On his part, Minister St.Ange echoed words of congratulations to the Skychef Servair team for taking part in the efforts of upgrading the Departure Lounge of the Seychelles International Airport. He added that it is pleasing to see that Seychelles is moving forward to cater for the needs of its visitors. “We are happy that Café Paradiso will provide something that looks, feels and gives a taste of Seychelles before the guests depart our country,” the Minister said.

Minister St.Ange also spoke about Mr Papakokinos, which he said was a man who had Seychelles at heart. “He always wanted to see Seychelles move forward, and I believe he must be proud and happy to see that his daughter has made another one of his dream come true,” Minister St.Ange said.

Minister St.Ange pointed out that tourism is not only hotels, sun, sea and sand, but it is also about the products and services offered, and services offered at the airport is one such example that is counted as part and parcel of what the Seychelles Brand of tourism stands for.

Bishop French Chang Him on his part reminded everyone that he was a close fried of Panos and added that he was proud to see his daughter Georgia growing the business that Panos was so dedicated to grow. Bishop French blessed the new facility and the gathered guests saying that he prayed for the island’s Minister St.Ange, Georgia Van Heyste and for the continue success of her operations.
