Deadline looms for submissions of SKAL Sustainable Tourism Awards

Skal International Vice President, Karine Coulanges, is pleased to invite project submissions for the 2013 edition of the “Sustainable Development in Tourism” Awards.

Do not miss out on this opportunity to submit a project to highlight and share the sustainable aspects of your company throughout the world. Skal is constantly searching for new entries to participate in this prestigious awards’ program that was launched 12 years ago, following the United Nations declaration of 2002 as the Year of Ecotourism and the Mountains.

A panel of three independent judges, who are experts in sustainable fields, will make the evaluation that will determine the winners in each of the eight categories:

-Tour Operators – Travel Agents
-Urban Accommodation
-Rural Accommodation
-Transportation
-General Countryside (Alpine Tourism, Underwater Projects, Beaches, Theme Parks, Scenic Mountains, Rivers, Lakes)
-Cities – Villages (Community and Government Projects)
-Educational Programs – Media
-Major Tourist Attractions

The awards are sponsored by partner, Diversey, who will also present a Special Recognition Award to one of the projects entering the competition.

Winners will be announced on September 29, 2013 during the Opening Ceremony of the 74th Skal World Congress which, for the first time ever, will be held onboard a cruise leaving from New York. The awards will be presented by the President of Skal International, Mok Singh.
