Masked gunmen have held up a tour bus in St. Lucia, robbing about 50 sightseers from a cruise ship.

No one was hurt but tourism minister Lorne Theophilus said the robbery of cruise passengers on a shore excursion in Soufriere was an “unfortunate and a horrible scenario”.

The tourists were from Celebrity Cruise line’s Eclipse vessel. The company is a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Cruises.

Police declined to give information about their investigation.

St. Lucia Tourist Board chairman Mathew Beaubrun said the robbery was a “rare incident”.
