No big damage expected after major earthquake in Taiwan

The Taiwan Central Weather Bureau says the quake Wednesday registered at magnitude 6.1.

The tremor struck a rural township in Nantou County, about 250 kilometers (about 155 miles) south of Taipei where it swayed buildings.
