Spring Breakers who are looking for an affordable beach destination in Texas will want to seriously consider Corpus Christi. According to a new survey from HoustonHotels.net, when compared to other beach destinations, hotel rates in Corpus Christi are the stateโs most moderate this upcoming main Spring Break week (March 11โ17).
On the day the survey was conducted (March 7), guests staying in Corpus Christiโs cheapest available double room would have to pay US$137 per night over Spring Break. That figure is about 70% more compared to what they would regularly pay to stay in the same establishment. However, itโs only a moderate price increase compared to South Padre Island. There, rooms are at least tripling, with the cheapest available double room currently going for US$284 nightly.
The scene is similar in other Texan beach destinations, with hotels running significantly more expensive for Spring Break. In Rockport, for example, Spring Breakers will have to pay at least US$144 per night. In Galveston and Port Aransas, the cheapest available double room is going even higher according to the survey: US$184 and US$196 nightly, respectively.
Itโs not all doom and gloom for Spring Breakers who have their hearts set on Texas, though. Urban destinations like Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio are exhibiting more moderate rate increases. Austin is the sole exception. There, the SXSW festival and the rodeo are also sending rates sky high. As a result, Spring Breakers will be unable to secure an Austin room for less than US$250.
