Skal International Thailand is pleased to announce that it will be celebrating the relaunch of the Pattaya and East Thailand club at a special event to be held at the Dusit Thani Hotel, Pattaya, at 1800 hours on Thursday, February 28, 2013 to an invited audience of travel and tourism professionals.

The new club President, Tony Malhotra, Deputy Managing Director of Pattaya Mail Publishing Co. Ltd., will preside at the inaugural event among Pattaya’s leading travel and tourism luminaries.

Said Andrew J. Wood, National President, Skal International Thailand, “It has been a long time since we were able to talk Skal in Pattaya, and I am delighted to announce that we will be re-starting Skal International Pattaya & East Thailand. There has never been a better time in my mind for Pattaya’s travel and tourism executives to have a forum to network and discuss common issues on a regular monthly basis. Travel professionals should ensure that they will become a founding member of the new relaunched club under the caring and guiding leadership of President Tony Malhotra.”

In 2006 Pattaya hosted the 67th Skal World Congress which was hailed as a great success. Thailand has hosted a total of two Skal World Congresses and three Skal Asia Area Congresses. The 2013 World Congress will take place September 28-October 5 in New York and the Asian Area Congress May 30-June 2 in Negombo, Sri Lanka, this year.

Skal International today has 18,000 members in 450 clubs in 85 countries and is the only association that links all branches of the travel and tourism industry, meeting at local, regional, and international levels.

Asked why it is important to have a Skal Club in Pattaya, new President Tony Malhotra said, “Pattaya is expanding rapidly, and there are many new tourism projects planned.

“Add to that a wide and diverse number of new Pattaya tourism executives stationed in Pattaya, a projected 3 million visitors annually, and a record 22 million international visitors to Thailand – they all add up to the need for a professional association that is able to communicate and share knowledge to ensure that Pattaya and East Thailand maintains its firm foothold on the stage of world tourism. A destination with a Skal Club sends out a message to all stakeholders and suppliers that we are serious about the business of tourism.

“The February 28 event will be an evening cocktail party at the Dusit Thani Hotel so members can learn more, meet industry colleagues, and hear of our plans for the future.”
