Tahiti tourism launches first destination app

Written by editor

Paradise can now be found in the palm of a hand with Tahiti Tourisme launching its first travel app for Android and Apple users.

Paradise can now be found in the palm of a hand with Tahiti Tourisme launching its first travel app for Android and Apple users.

The standout functions of the easy-to-use application are augmented reality and a travel guide providing detailed information on dining, accommodation, transport, and activities for most of Tahiti’s islands and atolls including contacts, tourist reviews, and photos.

The free app downloads completely and uses only GPS (no data or roaming charges) so all maps and information are available offline.

Travelers can also share photos and comments with their friends and other users on the spot or, if there is no Internet access, the app stores the information for sharing later.

Tahiti Tourisme Australia Director Robert Thompson said the new app was a fun way to explore Tahiti and Her Islands.

“As well as being user friendly, there are so many great functions including an interactive map, the option to build a customized itinerary and my favorite piece of technology, augmented reality, which allows travelers to use their phone to view points of interest and user uploaded content around them through their camera,” Mr. Thompson said.

“It’s also nice to receive tips and advice from other tourists and Tahitians who are best placed to take users on a virtual tour around their islands.”

For more information and to download the app, search Tahiti Tourisme in the App Store or Play Store or scan the QR code.
