Most tourists to Malta prefer four-star hotels

A total 43% of tourists (55,831 of 129,913) who came to Malta in October stayed at four-star hotels, the National Statistics Office said.

A total 43% of tourists (55,831 of 129,913) who came to Malta in October stayed at four-star hotels, the National Statistics Office said.

It said that 37,208 stayed in five-star hotels, 25,063 in three-star, 2,162 in two-star and 9,650 stayed in other collective accommodation.

The October arrivals were up by 3.4% over last year and total nights increased by 4.7% to 766,130.

Total arrivals in Malta amounted to 123,686 – 4.2% more than in 2011. Total nights stood at 737,388, while the average length of stay reached six nights. Total arrivals and nights spent in Gozo and Comino numbered 6,227 and 28,743, respectively.
