Construction work to build the new Seychelles Tourism Academy as the Hospitality & Tourism Center for Excellence is progressing according to the time schedule.

On a familiarization tour at the Academyโ€™s construction site at the former US Satellite Tracking Station Site at La Misere, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, expressed satisfaction with the steady progression of work to build the new Seychelles Tourism Academy. โ€œWe are proud to be working on a purpose-built Hospitality and Tourism Center for excellence for the region,โ€ Minister St.Ange said.

Construction work commenced in February 2012, and the site activities are currently at its peak with approximately 30% of the construction work now completed. With the erection of the pre-cast components completed on the language laboratory, work is being centered on the buildingโ€™s roofing. The building of the two storey-administrative block and the block of 15 classes is progressing well.

Keeping abreast of the work progression, Minister St.Ange took note of the workersโ€™ professionalism and how they effectively executed the project. He also witnessed the work being done to build the restaurant which will operate as the Academyโ€™s restaurant dโ€™application.

When he was briefed on the design and concept of the restaurant by the Principal of Seychelles Tourism Academy, Mr. Flavien Joubert, and by Mr. Peter Moncherry, the new Director General of Business, Minister St.Ange acknowledged that the project to build this Academy was well conceived. โ€œHere we will train more Seychellois to eventually take high-level positions in the tourism industry of our country,โ€ Minister St.Ange said.

The Principal of Seychelles Tourism Academy, Mr. Flavien Joubert, expressed optimism that the building contracted out to Yangtze Construction is meeting deadline. Mr. Joubert said that the first part of Phase 1 will be ready in March 2013 before construction work moves to the second and final part of Phase 1 of the project.

Minister St.Ange was accompanied on the visit by Principal Secretary for Culture, Mrs. Benjamine Rose, and the Special Advisor to the Minister, Mrs. Raymonde Onezime.
