DOHA, Qatar – With the United Nations Climate Change Conference starting in Doha tomorrow, Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) is ready to greet more than 10,000 visitors each day.

The various teams at QNCC have finalised preparations for the arrival of delegates and visitors from around the globe, who are attending COP18/CMP8. Food has been prepared, IT systems have been tested, furniture and audio visual systems are in place in the various meeting areas and offices, the building is spotless from top to bottom and staff members have been drilled on their roles to ensure a seamless and memorable experience for the 17,000 visitors in total who will descend on QNCC. Up to 150 Liaison Officers will act as VIP and protocol liaison points and escorts for high level delegations and heads of state from around the world.

“These Liaison Officers will be the frontline ambassadors for our hosting of this prestigious international event,” said Adam Mather-Brown, General Manager of QNCC. “They will act as the focal points for VIPs and Heads of Delegations who will be rushing around the building between sessions and meetings.”

Mr Mather-Brown said QNCC is a world-class venue, able to accommodate 10,000 visitors a day and equipped with state-of-the art technology. The venue is a tangible example of Qatar Foundation of Education, Science and Community Development (Qatar Foundation) and Qatar’s commitment to build a vibrant and self-sufficient knowledge-based economy.

COP18/CMP8 will run from 26 November to December 7 at the QNCC and will see representatives from 194 nations attend.
