TANZANIA (eTN) – Looking to attract tourists from the Arabic and the Mediterranean markets, Tanzania has invited journalists from leading media houses in Egypt to visit and get acquainted with its tourist attractions and services offered to visitors.

Five journalists from Egypt are in Tanzania to become acquainted with and intimate information to give them a first-hand experience of Tanzania tourism products and services offered to visitors.

The tour that has been coordinated by the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) was part of Tanzaniaโ€™s tourism marketing and promotion campaign to attract tourists from new markets including Arabic-speaking states of the Middle East and North Africa.

Managing Director of the Tanzania Tourist Board, Dr. Aloyce Nzuki, said the familiarization tour targets to intensify the tourism marketing and promotion campaign in Arabic markets.

Dr. Nzuki said the result of this trip is to sensitize Egyptian citizens through television programs, newspaper and magazine articles to be published in Egyptโ€™s local channels, and DVD documentaries, all to be released in Arabic, English, and French languages for Middle East and Mediterranean residents.

He said the media program will cover among other tourist sites, Tanzaniaโ€™s leading tourist hotspots made up of Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park, with the capital city of Dar es Salaam and the Indian Ocean tourist island of Zanzibar.

After Egypt Air re-introduced direct flights from Egypt to Tanzania during the past few years, the number of tourists from Egypt to Tanzania had increased to 25,000 visitors per year.

Under its new economic diplomacy policy, Tanzania will be publicizing tourist attractions available within its boundaries, services offered to foreign visitors, and investment opportunities available in the tourist industry through its foreign missions.

Egypt falls under countries which is a target for tourism marketing campaigns. Tanzania had appointed a new ambassador to Egypt last year and who was tasked to market tourism in Egypt and other Arabic-speaking states through his Cairo office.

Officials from the Tanzania Tourist Board launched tourism marketing campaigns during the past years when a delegation of senior officials from the Board, tour operators, and travel agents – all from leading tourist companies in Tanzania – visited Egypt to assess tourism market viability.

During their familiarization tour, the officials toured the River Nile Delta, Pyramids, Egyptโ€™s historical and Biblical sites, luxury lodges, and ancient civilization sites.

Egypt stands as a key market source for tourists from the Mediterranean states, Europe, America, and other world countries looking to combine their visiting itineraries to visit other countries in Africa.

According to the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Egypt is growing as an international destination where people across the world would like to go to see many places โ€“ the Pyramids, Luxor, the Red Sea, and the River Nile civilization.
