Jim Flannery, the UNWTO International Tourism Advisor of Technical Cooperation, had recently overseen a report on the proposed structures of the Seychelles Tourism Board, and now the islands have a Ministry of Tourism. Mr. Flannery was in Seychelles on behalf of the UNWTO as part of their program to assist in the consolidation of tourism right across the world.

Mr. Flannery, after spending time in Seychelles where he met and discussed with tourism officials and private sector tourism professionals, submitted his recommendations to the Seychelles government through the UNWTO. The recommendations are now being discussed with a view to incorporate some of the recommendations in the future changes being looked at.

A second document also submitted by Mr. Jim Flannery is a Risk Assessment Management proposal which again was a study requested by the Seychelles tourism authorities.

During the working visit to Dublin last week by Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, and his delegation which was comprised of Elsia Grandcourt, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, and Flavien Joubert, the Principle of the Seychelles Tourism Academy, a planned meeting with Jim Flannery was on the program.

โ€œThis was an opportunity to again discuss Seychelles tourism and to use the experience and contacts of Mr. Flannery during the different meetings we held with the different tourism bodies of Ireland. It was, as was said by Mr. Flannery himself, an opportunity to be again briefed on Seychelles tourism and to be better informed of the aspirations of our islands,โ€ said Minister St.Ange.

Mr. Jim Flannery was thanked by the Seychelles Minister for his report on Seychelles and for assisting with the program for Seychelles delegationโ€™s Dublin visit.

Seychelles is a founding member of the International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP).
