HALEIWA, Hawaii, USA; BRUSSELS, Belgium; VICTORIA, Seychelles; BALI, Indonesia โ€“ The International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP) announced that the Faasai Resort and Spa in Thailand has joined as a destination member.

“We are delighted to be part of ICTP which shares knowledge among people interested in authentic travel experiences and wishing to support responsible tourism,โ€ said the Owner-Manager of Faasai Resort and Spa, Bronwen Evans.

Faasai Resort and Spa, a four-star eco-resort on the Southeast Coast of Thailand, has twice won best small hotel in the Thailand Green Awards (in 2009 and 2011) organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (UK).

ICTP Chairman Juergen T.Steinmetz said: โ€œWe are pleased to welcome Faasai Resort and Spa to our growing list of destination members. The resort has won several awards for their work in the fields of responsible and sustainable tourism, and we are proud to have them join our alliance.โ€

An outstanding feature of Faasai Resort and Spa is the creation of an organic and edible forest garden, which provides healthy food for staff and guests, gives a sanctuary to wildlife, preserves heritage foods, and helps to minimize the resortโ€™s carbon footprint. The resort gardens cover approximately 20 acres, including a nearby sanctuary called White Water Lake, an area of wetlands, natural springs, and orchards.

Other awards won by Faasai Resort and Spa include a Green award and special award for cultivation and use of herbs and spices from the Governor of Chanthaburi 2011; Outstanding service to the environment and nature in the Eastern region award in the Thailand Boutique Awards 2010, a Responsible Tourism award in the 2008 Wild Asia Responsible Tourism Awards, and a Certificate of Honor from the District of Sanamchai in Chanthaburi.
