Every year for Tourism Week, the Seychelles Tourism Board organizes a Tourism Fair, which brings together a number of committed players directly in the industry or supporting bodies of the industry to stand together and in so doing exchange ideas together. This year was no different, and the fair was opened just after the tourism industry had gathered at the Seychelles International Conference Center to hear Elsia Grandcourt deliver her Tourism Day Message in the presence of Ministers Alain St.Ange, Peter Sinon, and Edith Alexander, Secretary of State in the Presidentโ€™s Office Barry Faure, hotel managers, airline managers, and tourism personalities of the islands.

At this yearโ€™s Tourism Fair, hotels and airlines were joined by many businesses who make the Seychelles tourism industry work or who remain part and parcel of the industry.

Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino, Four Seasons of Seychelles, Le Relax Hotels Group, La Reserve Hotel of Praslin, Kempinski Resort of Seychelles, La Plaine St. Andre of Takamaka Rum fame, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Creole Travel Services, Sea & Sun technology, Solarworld, Solaton, Vetivertech Pty Ltd., KLEAN PLUS/ MCES, Nature Seychelles, Sustainability for Seychelles, Seychelles Sustainable Tourism label, and Seychelles Tourism Academy all mounted excellent stands that were visited by government officials, tourism professionals, delegations from schools from all over Mahe, and by the general public.

When he spoke to the press at the 2012 Tourism Fair marking Tourism Day, Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, said that it was not just expected that Seychelles joined the Community of Nations to mark Tourism Day, but it was a must for all who believed in tourism, that pillar of the Seychelles economy to be together in a show of solidarity. โ€œWe would be seen as hypocrites if we turned a blind eye to World Tourism Day, because our islands depend on tourism, and we are all employed because our tourism industry in working. Today, I congratulate the companies, the hotels, and the airlines who have come out to promote themselves firstly, but also to show the diversity that makes for a healthy tourism industry. We value your commitment, and we thank you for standing with us on the 2012 World Tourism Day,โ€ Minister Alain St.Ange said.

Seychelles is a founding member of the International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP).
