LOS ANGELES, California – Green Globe announced certification of the Al Manzil and Qamardeen Hotels in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Following Dubai’s transition towards a green economy, both properties have been demonstrating leadership in adopting policies and initiatives to minimize their impact on the environment.

“It is a true honor that Al Manzil and Qamardeen Hotels, owned and operated by Emaar Hospitality Group, have been rewarded with one of the most prestigious certifications in the hospitality industry,” said Steven Vivard, General Manager at Al Manzil and Qamardeen Hotels, “The Green Globe Certification cements our vision to promote sustainable developments with a focus on energy and water use efficiency across our properties, and conserving our environment in line with the UAE’s ‘Green Economy for Sustainable Development’ initiative. We will continue to ensure that both hotels, as well as our diverse hospitality portfolio, will deliver on our commitment to offer the ultimate lifestyle experience to our guests, while upholding our focus on environmental sustainability.”

Both hotels have implemented a long-term sustainability management system and a solid waste management plan is in place. Energy and water consumption is strictly measured, while the use of renewable energy is encouraged. The purchasing policy favors environmentally-friendly products for building materials, capital goods, food, and consumables. Packaging is reduced to a minimum and local suppliers are given preference. Awareness among guests is promoted through a comprehensive communications strategy, which includes information on natural surroundings, local cultures, cultural heritage, and appropriate behavior while visiting heritage sites.

At a regional level, the “Dubai Green Economy Partnership” program empowered Dubai’s position as a hub of sustainable business. The adoption of green technologies and best practices in environment protection across key sectors from energy and transportation to buildings and resource management has proven economic and ecological feasibility in the area.

Green Globe Certification’s CEO, Guido Bauer, said, “We are extremely pleased to certify the Al Manzil and Qamardeen Hotels in Dubai. Both properties comply with an impressive 83% against Green Globe Certification criteria. With the increased number of Dubai’s green infrastructure projects yielding positive economic benefits, the ‘Dubai Green Economy Partnership’ program will strengthen sustainability guidelines that can reduce carbon emissions, increase energy efficiency, and encourage water conservation.”
