China Eastern, Shanghai Air award Sabre with preferred provider status

SHANGHAI, China – China Eastern Airlines, a leading commercial airline in China, together with its subsidiary Shanghai Airlines, have reached a new full content agreement awarding Sabre Travel Network

SHANGHAI, China – China Eastern Airlines, a leading commercial airline in China, together with its subsidiary Shanghai Airlines, have reached a new full content agreement awarding Sabre Travel Network with preferred provider status.

Under this agreement, the airlines’ fares and inventory will be made available to all Sabre travel agents worldwide through the Sabre Global Distribution System (GDS). China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines have guaranteed their full range of fares and products to Sabre-connected travel agencies and corporations globally, including published fares the airlines sell through their own websites, third-party websites, and their own reservation offices.

“China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines and Sabre have had a very strong relationship over the years. This new agreement will not only meet our distribution needs, but will also bring about immediate benefits to us as part of our distribution strategy in our global expansion, especially in the North America region. We recognize the value of Sabre GDS and we look forward to working closely with the Sabre team to implement this agreement,” said James Pu, General Manager System Development/Revenue Management Department of China Eastern Airlines.

“Sabre continues to be committed to helping the China Eastern and Shanghai Airlines maximize their reach and revenue potential,” said Hans Belle, vice president of Sabre Travel Network — Asia-Pacific.

“Having the airlines give us their full content will benefit the airlines and our Sabre-connected agents. This will allow both parties to fully realize the benefits of Sabre’s technology and customer reach. We applaud this partnership and look forward to seeing the growth,” added Belle.

This full content agreement continues a broad relationship between China Eastern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines and Sabre Holdings. In addition to participation in the Sabre GDS, China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines also use Market Intelligence solutions and decision-support technology from Sabre Airline Solutions to optimize its flight scheduling, resource management and daily flight operations.
