Cape Town will play host to the Getaway Travel Blog Conference for the second year running on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at the Upper Eastside Hotel in Cape Town.

In partnership with Cape Town Tourism, the conference will present local blogosphere experts and top international bloggers who will cover a wide range of topics on travel blogging from how to get inspired, to building your brand and leveraging social media platforms.

Cape Town Tourism CEO, Mariรซtte du-Toit Helmbold, will speak on โ€œTravel in the digital spaceโ€ and Getaway magazine Editor, Cameron Ewart-Smith, will share his thoughts on โ€œHow to get inspiration for your travel blog.โ€

In addition, this yearโ€™s guest speakers also include international travel bloggers:

โ€ข Keith Jenkins of Velvet Escape luxury travel blog (@velvetescape) on โ€œHow travel bloggers are changing the media landscapeโ€

โ€ข Matt Long from Landlopers (@landlopers) on โ€œSponsored blogging & selling advertisingโ€

โ€ข Melvin Boecher of Traveldudes (@traveldudes) on โ€œLeveraging your social media channelsโ€

โ€ข Nellie Huang from Wild Junket (@wildjunket) on โ€œWriting that drives trafficโ€

โ€œThe conference will share valuable travel blogging insights with the South African travel blogging community,โ€ said Getaway Editor, Ewart-Smith, โ€œWhat’s most exciting is that this blog conference has attracted international interest. We feel honored to have such high-profile travel bloggers speaking at our event.โ€

Du Toit-Helmbold commented: โ€œOver the past two years, we have seen significant changes in the way travelers research, buy, and share when it comes to travel. The online world allows for more immediate, visual sharing of travel experiences and the ability to browse destinations widely online is ideal for todayโ€™s tech-savvy travelers who want as much choice as possible. User-generated content and reviews have become just as important to travelers now as a review in a Fodorโ€™s guide was five years ago. The digital arena also allows for instant updates so opinions change within days rather than annually, which keeps establishments and service providers on their toes. Travel bloggers are the ambassadors of a new digital age in tourism, but with so much information and choice out there, they may have a challenging time enticing readers. This conference will assist them in sharpening their tools when it comes to writing and presenting user-friendly travel content.โ€

Tickets are R750 for the general public and R650 for existing Getaway travel blog writers. The cost of the ticket also includes lunch and refreshments during the day.
