Press conference with a difference held by Seychelles in Durban

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism & Culture, accompanied by Elsia Grandcourt, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, and hermManagers for the Seychelles Cape Town & Pretoria Offices, held a press conference with a difference during Indaba, the South African Tourism Trade Fair in Durban.

The Seychelles Tourism delegation, flanked by the IRT (La Reunion Island Tourism) and Routes organization representatives, gathered the press in the corridors of INDABA for a snap press conference to update press on the coming Routes Africa 2012, which will this year be held in Seychelles.

Before starting with his update on the delegations already confirmed and registered for Routes Africa, Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles said that they were in Africa and as such felt that a village-like meeting was called to keep everyone close and together. โ€œWe have a message – tell your readers that Routes Africa 2012 will be the event to rally Africa together to look at their tourism industry and for world airlines who are serious about flying to Africa to meet with African ministers to work out together the way forward. It will also be the forum for airport authorities from across the world to see networking possibilities as new partner airports,โ€ Minister Alain St.Ange of the Seychelles said.

The Seychelles Tourism Minister then said that it was confirmed at INDABA itself that the South African and the Zimbabwe Tourism Ministers would be addressing Routes Africa 2012 as would the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines. He then listed out those already registered, including the number of delegates:

Seychelles will see Routes Africa 2012 take place at the same time as the Board of Retosa and the first meeting of the ICTP (International Council for Tourism Partners) are also gathering in Seychelles for their own meetings. Seychelles is a founding member of the International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP) www.tourismpartners.org , and ETN is a media partner for Routes Africa.

This coming July will see the tropical islands of the Seychelles become the focus of the world tourism industry.
