Wild romance – your dream day come true

Celebrate love.

Celebrate love. It’s a motto Morukuru lives by – love for the smell of the African bush after rain; love for families, and how they make us whole; love for the simple luxuries, like peace, and privacy. But there is no love worth celebrating more than the moment two individuals sincerely promise to have and to hold each other, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness, and in health. Even the most cynical are moved by the purity of the intent, sealed with a kiss. It’s a moment to cherish, for more than just a few over-before-you-blink hours. Ideally, it should be celebrated for at least two days, in an environment that is as wildly romantic as the occasion. Morukuru, an exclusive nature reserve neighboring the 75 000-hectare, malaria-free Madikwe, is just such a place: a tangled untamed wilderness under a huge blue sky, where time has stood still, and predators prowl as they have for millennia. Perhaps it is the primal nature of the landscape that makes Morukuru such a special place to celebrate wedding vows, or perhaps the luxury of facilities, the exclusivity of the experience, the mile-upon-mile sense of privacy. Certainly the dedicated staff, each with their own brand of perfectionism, plays a key role. Whatever it is, the magic of Morukuru is almost tangible.

If you are looking for an intimate elopement-style wedding, Owners House is the perfect place to do it. You’ll have your own luxury bush villa, equipped with every modern convenience; your own chef, butler, Morukuru hosts, game ranger, tracker and discreet housekeepers. There are a choice of decks overlooking the Marico river to laze around on, a large pool to cool off in, a super-romantic outdoor bath, and, of course, amazing wildlife experiences whenever you wish. Staff are on hand to take care of your every need; if you wish to be alone, simply wave them off like the royalty you are for the duration of your stay. Should you have friends and family you want to share the celebration with (and witnesses are important), there is the adjacent River Lodge, which can sleep a total of 6 (10 if children are included, and they are made very welcome here). Farm House, a short drive away, which sleeps a further 10, and Owner’s House can accommodate two more.

There are various wedding packages and price configurations available, ensuring that the bride and groom don’t have to lift a finger (or hire a wedding planner). All you have to do is choose your guest list (bearing in mind that Morukuru can accommodate a maximum of 24) and pick out a wedding outfit. The enchanting Morukuru team will take care of the rest: from arranging a minister of ceremony and baking a three-tier wedding cake, to preparing and serving delicious meals and wines, adorning you and the tables with flowers, to DJ and décor hire. Massage treatments, al fresco bubble baths, romantic turn downs – this is where your dream day comes true.
