Outbound travel departures from the United States by US citizens totaled 11,206,043 in June 2024, an increase of 7.9 percent compared to June 2023.

Recent data published by the National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) indicates that in June 2024, the total number of international visitors to the United States, excluding US residents, reached 5,639,831. This figure reflects a 13.2 percent increase compared to June 2023 and accounts for 89.1 percent of the total visitor volume recorded in June 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to NTTO, the number of overseas visitors to the United States reached 2,901,542 in June 2024, reflecting a 7 percent increase from June 2023. This marked the thirty-ninth consecutive month of year-over-year growth in total international arrivals from non-U.S. residents.

Additionally, June 2024 represented the sixteenth consecutive month in which the number of overseas visitors exceeded 2 million. Notably, all of the top 20 countries generating tourists to the United States reported an increase in visitor volume in June 2024 compared to the same month in the previous year.

The highest volume of international visitor arrivals originated from Canada (1,430,418), Mexico (1,307,871), the United Kingdom (286,654), India (233,149), and Brazil (137,762). Collectively, these five leading source markets represented 60.2 percent of the overall international arrivals.

The total number of international departures by U.S. citizens from the United States reached 11,206,043, reflecting a 7.9 percent increase compared to June 2023 and representing 107.3 percent of the total departures recorded in June 2019, prior to the pandemic.

June 2024 marked the thirty-ninth consecutive month of year-over-year growth in international visitor departures by U.S. citizens. For the year-to-date (YTD), North America, comprising Mexico and Canada, accounted for 48.6 percent of the market share, while overseas destinations made up 51.4 percent.

Mexico experienced the highest volume of outbound visitors, totaling 3,276,884, which represents 29.2 percent of all departures in June and 37.3 percent year-to-date.

Canada saw a year-over-year increase of 7.7 percent. When combined year-to-date, Mexico and the Caribbean accounted for 49.2 percent of total international visitor departures by U.S. citizens, with figures of 19,240,054 and 6,137,221, respectively.

Europe ranked as the second largest destination for outbound U.S. travelers, with 3,002,181 departures, constituting 26.8 percent of all departures in June.

Furthermore, outbound travel to Europe in June 2024 rose by 11.4 percent compared to June 2023.
