Seychelles President appoints Tourism Board members

Following the appointment of Mr. Alain St.Ange as Minister for Tourism and Culture and the appointment of Mrs.

Following the appointment of Mr. Alain St.Ange as Minister for Tourism and Culture and the appointment of Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt as the Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Tourism Board, the Seychelles President, Mr. James Michel, has subsequently proceeded with the re-appointment of board members of the Seychelles Tourism Board.

The Seychelles Tourism Board remains once again a private-sector controlled board in line with the understanding between the government and the private sector to keep tourism as a public/private-sector managed industry.

The new Seychelles Tourism Board again, therefore, comprises a combined representation of both the public and private sector: Mr. Barry Faure (Secretary of State in the Presidentโ€™s office) remains Chairman of the Board. Captain David Savy remains a Board Member as a government representative with airline expertise. Mr. Steve Fanny, the newly-appointed Principal Secretary for Finance is a new Board Member.

Mr. Philippe Guitton, Mr. Paul Hodoul, and Mr. Louis Dโ€™Offay are Board Members from the Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association, and Mr. Brijesh Jivan is the fourth Board Member representing the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt becomes a member of the Board in her capacity as CEO of the Tourism Board.

The Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Elsia Grandcourt, has welcomed the nominations of the new Board and took the opportunity to thank all the former members of the Tourism Board for their valuable contribution, which has helped consolidate the Seychelles tourism industry. She said that the โ€œTourism Board remains connected and committed to work closely with the tourism industryโ€™s private sector,โ€ adding that โ€œtheir positive contributions and expertise is invaluable, as we work to further consolidate the industry and raise the profile of the Seychelles in the market place.โ€

The board mandate is for a period of two years.
