The newly-appointed Seychelles Minister of Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, was sworn in before President James Michel at State House in Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles.

In the presence of the other five newly-appointed ministers, Vice President Danny Faure, Designated Minister Vincent Meriton, Speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Patrick Herminie, Chief Justice Frederick Egonda-Ntende, the President of the Court of Appeal Francis MacGregor. and the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister St.Ange took the oath of allegiance, the official oath. and secrecy oath.

Speaking with the local press following the official swearing-in ceremony, Minister St.Ange has described this swearing-in ceremony as โ€œemotionalโ€ saying that he โ€œfeels privileged to be selected by President Michel to be the Minister of Tourism and Culture,โ€ as according to him, this โ€œnew appointment is a clear indication that President Michel has appreciated the work he has done as the former Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Tourism Board.โ€

Minister St.Ange said that โ€œone of the challenges of this post is the culture portfolio, which is attached with the Ministry of Tourism,โ€ and he has assured that โ€œTourism and culture will now be complimentary.โ€

โ€œTourism does not normally stand alone; culture is an integral part of tourism. In addition to our environment, we have the culture of our people which could be incorporated as well. We will be ready to issue a statement on the proper plans for the coming years in a few days,โ€ said Minister St.Ange.

He said that he will continue to remain active and in the forefront of the development of the tourism industry as he may be considered a veteran in this field.

After the swearing-in ceremony, President James Michel summoned his ministers for the first cabinet meeting following the re-organization of government.

Addressing the Cabinet of Ministers, President Michel congratulated the new ministers on their appointments and urged them to work hard and work together.

โ€œRemain always connected to the people, and be sensitive to their needs. Be pro active. Be innovative,โ€ he told them.
