The known and very popular Dubai Eye radio station was one of the many radio stations that traveled to Seychelles in order to cover the carnival of carnivals live. Dubai Eye is the English radio station that has a faithful following, and broadcasting live from Seychelles helped increased the visibility of these mid-ocean paradise islands to the Middle East.

They managed to not only restrict themselves to the carnival proper but also made time to tell Dubai and the Middle East of the unique attributes of Seychelles that made it the holiday destination they remained. Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, was one of the island’s personalities interviewed by Dubai Eye during the 2012 Carnival celebrations, and this also attracted a lot of passersby to stop and see for themselves how that live broadcast was taking place.

The carnival in the Seychelles was this year jointly hosted by Seychelles and La Reunion, and that message was relayed over and over again during the interview with the Seychelles Tourism Board CEO and during their many live broadcasts from Seychelles.

The Middle East remains a big potential market for Seychelles and La Reunion, and the Seychelles Tourism Board CEO said that the Middle East remained the destination with the most air connections with the islands. Emirates is today serving Seychelles with 12 weekly flights, Qatar with 7, and Etihad with 4, but that is set to increase to 6 from next week, as per agreements with their partner airline, Air Seychelles.

Other radio stations from South Africa, Mauritius, and more were also broadcasting live from Seychelles during the island’s 2012 carnival.
