Chinese people and culture join Community of Nations at Carnival

From China it is confirmed that the Elders Art Performing Association of Xiamen is traveling to Seychelles to be part of the 2012 Carnaval International de Victoria.

After the approval of the Department of Civil Affairs of Xiamen, the Elders Art Performing Association of Xiamen was officially founded on December 12, 2008, as a non-profit organization, and is managed by the Gerontological Society of Xiamen. There are 20 performing groups in the association, and its members are all the elders of Xiamen. With a great reputation, they are often invited to perform in the grand events hosted in Xiamen and other cities of China, and even going abroad to perform.

The main work of the Elders Art Performing Association of Xiamen is to organize kinds of cultural performances accordingly on the important festivals of China, it also collaborates with its top authority to host the Elders Culture and Art Festival every three years, furthermore, it also focuses on training the talented members and being in charge of organizing the eldersโ€™ cultural exchange activities between cities and countries.

The group is expected in Seychelles in time for the official opening of the 2012 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria on Friday, March 2. The Chinese performance brings added color and variety to the carnival, staged under the theme of โ€œthe melting pot of cultures.โ€

Alain St.Ange, CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, said as he left China last weekend, that the confirmation of this Chinese group at the Carnaval International de Victoria shows that China is proud to be parading it people alongside 33 other international delegations from the Community of Nations, and in so doing, showcasing the Chinese people and the Chinese culture.
