MANAMA, Bahrain – New educational programs in Bahrain’s elementary schools will emphasize the principles of human rights and tolerance toward others through physical education games.

More than 155 of Bahrain’s physical education teachers are currently participating in a training workshop organized by the Department of Physical Education, Scouting and Girl Guides. Eventually the program aims to train all of Bahrain’s 363 elementary school physical education teachers.

The workshop is part of a larger program of the Ministry of Education to strengthen the concepts of human rights, citizenship, tolerance and co-existence in school curricula, Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi said. The ministry is partnering with the Office of International Education in Geneva to revamp the country’s educational programs.
