TUMON, Guam – Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) attended the L.A. Times Travel Show on January 26-29, 2012 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This is the Bureau’s sixth year to participate in this show starting in February 2007 when the show was held at the Long Beach Convention Center. In February 2009, the show was moved to the Los Angeles Convention Center.

In all, the three-day event convened more than 24,300 attendees – the largest attendance in the 14-year history of the Los Angeles Times Travel Show. More than 2,700 travel professionals, participants, and media gathered on Friday, January 27, for the inaugural Los Angeles Times Travel Show industry conference and show floor preview. Travel trade participation for the weekend increased by 400 percent over past years, through the addition of an industry-focused day of programming.

GVB generated a social media campaign with a giveaway for a trip to Guam. Visitors to the Guam booth who wanted to try their luck in winning a round-trip ticket to Guam had to register for a Guam raffle ticket and “like” the GVB Facebook page. Participants were instructed to say they visited the travel show, tell GVB what they learned about Guam, and note their raffle ticket number on their Facebook message. The drawing will take place on Valentine’s Day, February 14.

GVB has seen a flurry of activity on its Facebook page since the campaign began — more than 135 new likes and a 67 percent increase in weekly total reach.
