Group-tour arrivals from mainland China have exceeded 3 million, the National Immigration Agency (NIA) reported yesterday.
From May 2008 to Dec. 31, 2011, Taiwan has drawn more than 3 million mainland Chinese tourists on group tours, according to NIA.
Since the opening of gates to unaccompanied mainland tourists, Taiwan has received some 30,000 applications.
In Dec. 2011 alone, applications exceeded 16,000, thanks to a new electronic processing platform.
From Nov. to the end of Dec. 2011, Taiwan received a daily average of 4524 mainland visitors, according to NIA.
