MANAMA, Bahrain – In an extension of National Day festivities, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) launched “BNA Kids,” an interactive section of the website aimed at promoting national values and human rights as well as cutting-edge technologies to the country’s youth.

The site offers Bahraini children the opportunity to become correspondents for “BNA Kids,” granting firsthand exposure to the news-making process and developing journalism skills.

Saturday, festivities continue at Arad Fort, where 800 children will launch balloons with messages of unity, hope and love for Bahrain. The event follows a 5k race around Muharraq intended to unite the community.

“It is aimed to bring everyone together to celebrate National Day. It is a first-of-its-kind, free event,” a Muharraq governorate spokesman said.

This year is Bahrain’s 40th anniversary, marking its independence from Britain in 1971 and King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa’s subsequent leadership. Celebrations began December 16.
