Ivy Alliance and AQ Communications are the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) tourism destination representatives in China. Ivy Alliance will work in partner-ship with AQ Communications Ltd., GVBโs Hong Kong and China representa-tive since 2004. AQ Communications will continue to provide media relations and event management execution, as well as daily administrative support in Guangzhou, Shanghai, and nearby provinces.
Ivy Alliance was founded in 2001 and has become Chinaโs leading consultยฌing company with a focus on China outbound tourism research and marยฌketing. The managing director of Ivy Alliance, Dr. Wang Xinjun, is a former China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) official where he was responsible for drafting tourism laws and regulaยฌtions, supervising the tourism market, and assessing qualifications of Chinese outbound travel agencies and issuing licenses.

According to GVB Marketing Manager Pilar Laguaรฑa, Ivy Alliance has worked with AQ Communications for more than three years, as well as with GVB on IFCOT (International Forum on Chinese Outbound Tourism). The Beijing-based agency was a guest speaker and deleยฌgate at the China Outbound Symposium on Guam held October 2010.
Ivy Alliance has strong personal and long-term relationships with the China government, PATA-China, and is able to assist in visa waiver and Guam tourism promotions. Ivy Alliance was appointed by China Travel Services Industry Association (CATS) and is supported by the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) to compile quarterly and annual Chinese Outbound Tourism Statistics reports. Additionally, the agency overseas Quality Service Certification (QSC) for members of the travel trade.
As a GVB representative, Ivy Alliance will serve as a liaison with the China governยฌment, airlines, and travel agents, as well as provide assistance on visa waiver initiatives.
Ivy Alliance and AQ Communications are poised to market Guam as the clos-est US destination from China with excellent brand-name shopping. The agencies will also continue to develop the wedding and honeymoon markets for affluent outbound China travelers, as well as promote Guamโs excellent resources for MICE and expat travel.
GVB and its China representatives have a target of 15,000 Chinese visitors in fiscal year 2012.
