IIPT tackles “peace through tourism” at WTM 2014

LONDON (eTN) – The International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT) yesterday gathered some of the industry’s top leaders to discuss “Cultivating Sustainable and Peaceful Communities and Nations.”

Held from 1030am to 1200pm on November 5 at the World Travel Market’s (WTM) South Gallery rooms 21 and 22, the panel was moderated by International Coalition of Tourism Partners president Geoffrey Lipman and included United Nations World Tourism Organization secretary general Dr. Taleb Rifai, former Pacific Asia Travel Association chief executive Martin Craigs, Hiran Cooray (from Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority) Ambassador Yamina Karitanyi (from Rwanda) Mrs. Wahida Jaiet (from Tunisia National Tourism Office), and Mrs. Chandana Khan IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Andhra Pradesh Tourism, India.

The event organized by IIPT founder and president Louis D’Amore allowed each panelist to speak for about five minutes or so on the podium before the floor was opened for the audience to either comment or ask questions. As there were so many important issues raised during the hour and a half session, I’ve decided to upload the entire audio recording of the event so you can feel immersed in the experienced as I was.
