An explosion yesterday at the Atilano Pension House hotel in the southern Philippines killed 3 people and wounded 27.
The blast took place at the hotel in Zamboanga City, said Sheila Covarrubias, a spokeswoman for the mayor’s office. Among the injured were several wedding guests, she said.
A bomb squad was sent to the area, though its work was initially hampered by a fire that followed the explosion, the spokeswoman said.
The cause of the blast was not immediately clear. The mayor is meeting with investigators.
