LONDON, England – A recent visitor arrivals report conducted by Tourism Research Australia shows that UK visitors to the Gold Coast are spending an average of three days longer in the destination than they did in 2010. The report also highlighted that UK visitors are spending more of their money as UK visitor expenditure is up three percent.

With over 300 days of sunshine a year, it is no wonder the Gold Coast is โ€˜famous for funโ€™. Beyond the 70km of picture-perfect beaches, just 40 minutes drive from the coast is a hinterland of subtropical rainforest, interspersed with mountain villages, bushwalks, waterfalls and swimming holes. The World Heritage-listed Springbrook and Lamington National Parks, plus extended township of Tamborine Mountain offer access to unmatched Australian landscapes.

For culinary enthusiasts, boutique distilleries, breweries, restaurants, rustic homesteads, plus local produce markets are scattered throughout this rural setting. The Gold Coast is also Australiaโ€™s fastest growing wine region, home to over 11 award-winning wineries.

For families looking to visit the Gold Coast, the regionโ€™s theme parks and wildlife sanctuaries offer unique one-on-one encounters with Australian wildlife including kangaroos, koalas, emus, lorikeets, crocodiles, snakes, dolphins and even sharks. There is also a range of free and value-for-money activities available from visiting the Regional Botanic Gardens to Ripleyโ€™s Believe it Or Not Museum in Surferโ€™s Paradise which are perfect for keeping the whole family entertained.
