Festival of the Sea rocks Beau Vallon Bay from floating stage

The Seychelles 2011 SUBIOS, the Festival of the Sea, was launched with a bang last Friday night.

The Seychelles 2011 SUBIOS, the Festival of the Sea, was launched with a bang last Friday night. Minister Joel Morgan congratulated the Seychelles Tourism Board and the RoundTable Organizers of the Annual Regatta for having worked together to bring about a greater event than usual.

This year the Beau Vallon Bay event was seen from a floating stage, which had been made possible by the local VIJAY Engineering & Construction Company through contacts made by Local Events Coordinator Marie France MacGregor on behalf of the Seychelles Tourism Board. “VIJAY Constructions and Mrs. Marie France MacGregor enabled us to stage the event with a difference. The floating barge provided at no charge by VIJAY Constructions made it possible to move the stage from its car park setting and on to the sea, setting the scene for a true Festival of the Sea & Regatta,” Alain St.Ange, CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, told the press after the official opening ceremony.

The Seychelles Tourism Board this year joined their annual event, the SUBIOS, Festival of the Sea, with the Round Table’s REGATTA and they surprised Seychelles with an event that jumped all expectations.

International Starts including the SOCA Queen, Lima Calbio from Trinidad & Tobago, and DJs Juicy M & Antonius, all blended in with a number of local artists to provide non-stop entertainment from the floating stage. Round Table stalls providing all beverage and food necessities along with souvenir items provided enough to do right on the Beau Vallon beach front.

“We have some of the clearest and clean waters, and we need to learn to enjoy the use of this asset of ours,” Alain St.Ange said as he followed Minister Morgan and addressed the opening ceremony of the SUBIOS 2011 Festival of the Sea in Seychelles.

The beach-side activities with the annual Iron Man and Woman competition ended on Sunday night.
