LONDON, England – Pegasus Airlines has concluded a codeshare agreement with airberlin, Germany’s second largest airline, with joint flights available to book from September 2011, with flights available to book now; thus Pegasus continues its dynamic growth story, continuously adding new destinations in Turkey and far beyond.

In the first stage of the codeshare roll-out, joint flights will be available between the German cities of Berlin, Dusseldorf, Cologne/Bonn and Munich and Istanbul, with two codeshare services within Turkey, between Istanbul and Izmir as well as Ankara, offered in combination with flights from Germany to Istanbul. In the second stage of the partnership in 2012, Pegasus guests will be able to enjoy easy flights far beyond Germany to airberlin’s far-flung international destinations.

Commenting on the launch of the joint flights, Pegasus Airlines General Manager Sertac Haybat said: “Pegasus began to fly to Germany in 2007 and has continuously expanded its route network and innovations ever since. Pegasus now flies to five destinations in Germany, with a total of 40 weekly scheduled flights. Indeed, Pegasus’ holding company Esas is airberlin’s single largest shareholder with its 16.48% stake in the airline. Our partnership with airberlin began in 2009, when we embarked upon integration of our websites, with guests from either airline able to book flights on the other’s website. Today we are very pleased to announce our codeshare arrangement with airberlin, which will further strengthen our presence in Germany. We see this cooperation as the first step in exploring more opportunities in the future.

“We are very happy to announce the codeshare agreement with our Turkish partner, Pegasus, which further strengthens our cooperation to date in Turkey, an important and growing market. Our passengers can now fly directly to Istanbul. Furthermore, the services between Istanbul and Ankara as well as Izmir open up connecting flights within Turkey. We are committed to our continued and successful cooperation with our partner Pegasus into the future,” remarked Ulf Hüttmeyer, CFO airberlin.
