ABACO BEACH RESORT – CORAL GABLES, FLORIDA
There does not appear to be any serious damage to Abaco Beach Resort in Marsh Harbour, Abacos, Bahamas, post-Hurricane Irene. Guests and staff remained safe, secure, and dry during the massive hurricane that hovered over the resort yesterday. This weekend, engineers and surveyors will take a professional look at structures including the docks, which are described as โ€œlooking fine.โ€ The hurricane caused minor damage to the resortโ€™s exterior and landscape, with some tree and solar panel damage.

Although Hurricane Irene disrupted the outbound/inbound Marsh Harbor flight schedules, flight service to/from Marsh Harbor is scheduled to resume by Saturday, August 27.

The resort is open for business, guests, and anyone needing to be in Abaco this next week, while clean up continues. The resort will offer a limited menu and limited staff service until September 1, when the resort will resume full service in time for Labor Day weekend.

The resorts experienced some rain, winds, and a few missing palm fronds. Grace Bay Beach was protected by the islandโ€™s Barrier Reef, the third largest in the world, and remains beautiful.

Although Hurricane Irene disrupted the outbound/inbound PLS flight schedules, flight service to/from Provo resumed on August 25.

The Ocean Club Resorts staff is sprucing up the resort and will re-open Ocean Club on Sunday, August 28; then it will close for its annual refurbishment as originally scheduled September 19โ€“October 13, re-opening fully operational on October 14.

Ocean Club West was scheduled to close for its annual refurbishment August 29โ€“September 22 and will now be closed as of today, August 26, and re-open fully operational as originally scheduled on September 23.

At this time, Ocean Club Resorts will not be accepting any new reservations for travel August 28โ€“September 19. As a courtesy, Ocean Club Resorts is allowing guests to change travel dates or cancel reservations without incurring a penalty.
