The Indian Ocean Island of La Reunion has made an unprecedented mark during the 2011 Seychelles carnival when they paraded a float in the carnival procession depicting their volcano and their newly-accredited UNESCO World Heritage Site. La Reunion Islandยดs delegation to the Seychelles was headed by Mme. Jacqueline Fareyol and Mme. Marie Andre La Croix Favour and comprised of Miss Reunion Island, a creole music group, the WAKI Band, and a delegation of entertainers.

The La Reunion Music Band was one of the group honored to perform at the Seychelles carnivalยดs official opening ceremony after the islandยดs President Mr. James Michel had delivered his speech to launch the 2011 edition of the carnival.

Mme. Jacqueline Fareyol of the La Reunion Tourisme addressed a press conference in Seychelles where she made the point about the “tamed and docile” volcano of La Reunion, and where she described the newly-accredited UNESCO World Heritage Site in La Reunion. The bank of some 39 press members in Seychelles to cover the islandยดs carnival were all eager to learn more of this conservation move by the island of La Reunion.

The CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Alain St.Ange, who spoke after Mme. Fareyol took on the points made about La Reunion as being the “Switzerland of the Indian Ocean,” because of the mountains of La Reunion, which makes for a perfect combination with the Seychelles award winning white, sandy, and clean beaches.

Alain St.Ange told the participating countries in the Seychelles carnival that he had invited such a big group of international press, because he wanted to ensure that the world is well informed of the Seychelles carnival and also on all countries who make the effort to be in Seychelles for the carnival.
