Gerd Steeb, President of Centara Hotels & Resorts, has announced the promotion of Michel Horn from General Manager of Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld to Vice President – Operations of Centara Hotels & Resorts.

Mr. Horn will be responsible for operations of all Centara properties in Bangkok, the North of Thailand, Hua Hin, Hadyai, and internationally, covering hotels and resorts in the Middle East, India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia, China, and the Philippines.

David Good, who is the existing Vice President – Operations will continue to be responsible for Centara’s properties in the South of Thailand, plus Prajaub Kirikhan, Pattaya, Eastern Seaboard, the North East of Thailand, and the Maldives.

Mr. Horn, who is French, graduated with a Higher Degree in Hotel Management from the University of Hotel & Management in Strasbourg, France. Mr. Horn has over 30 years’ experience in hotel management, including 13 years in Accor, and has worked as a general manager in various countries including France, UAE, United Kingdom, Singapore, China, Cambodia, South Korea, and Thailand. He also worked with Centara Samui Beach Resort, Samui, as general manager in 1994 for the hotel pre-opening.

Mr. Horn was Managing Director of Hotel Management & Consulting Services Pte Ltd. and Cambodiana Investment (S) Pte Ltd. in Singapore for 10 years. Prior to being promoted to Vice President – Operations, he was General Manager of the Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, the successful Flagship hotel of the group, for three years.

Centara Hotels & Resorts currently operates a chain of 37 hotels and resorts throughout Thailand, with the properties being either self-owned or managed under contract. Of this number, 28 are open for business and a further nine are at present under development. The addition of 7 resorts in the Maldives, India, Philippines, and Vietnam brings the total to 44 properties.
