The environmental practices of Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi have been awarded Silver Certification by EarthCheck, the world’s leading sustainable travel and tourism certification organization.

The EarthCheck program is focused on maximizing operational efficiencies to minimize CO2 emissions, looking at key environmental indicators such as energy and water consumption along with total waste production to determine the level of performance.

Only those companies that can demonstrate operational practices that adhere to the highest environmental standards receive the much-coveted Silver Certification.

“We are very proud indeed to have received the award, and everyone here at the resort worked hard to achieve this result,” said Thomas Reupke, General Manager at Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi. “Our team is now working with great enthusiasm to reach the next level.”

As part of the certification process, Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi successfully benchmarked its operations using the EarthCheck tool.

This involved the resort hotel submitting a year’s worth of operational data and having it compared to that of other organizations that are similar in kind.

The EarthCheck program uses more than a decade of factual, operational data, submitted by over 1,000 companies in more than 60 countries.

Working in this way, the hotel’s management team was able to identify where they were out-performing others and where room for improvement remained.

“I am delighted that Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi has achieved Certified Silver status,” said Stewart Moore, CEO of EC3 Global. “Going well beyond mere tick-box action is not an easy task. It requires the commitment of all levels of staff, as well as a readiness to submit to expert scrutiny.

“The hotel has emerged as an example of an organization committed to environmentally-sustainable tourism, and the EarthCheck logo will serve to demonstrate that their claims are both credible and relevant.”

Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi is a luxury 192-room and pool villa resort sitting within its own private bay with a beachfront of 500 meters and stunning views of towering limestone formations.

Facilities include a spa, a fitness center, and a dive and water sports center. The resort is ideally suited for couples and families alike and also has meetings facilities for up to 200 persons.
