Saudi Arabian Airlines, the largest airline in the Middle East, today announced the appointment of Alexander Rahe as Head of Sales and Marketing, The Americas, responsible for defining and implementing the company’s market strategy for North and South America.

Before joining Saudi Arabian Airlines, Alexander was Executive VP, North America for Sixt rent a car, where he developed product strategy and brought products to market in several key areas. A large focus was on online distribution and marketing, as well as partnership marketing with leading hospitality industry partners.

Prior to Sixt, Alexander was a Senior Transportation Officer at the International Monetary Fund with the responsibility of all travel procurement and managing the organizations travel policy. Before joining the IMF, Alexander was the Director of Sales and Marketing at Star Alliance based in Los Angeles. In this role he acted as an advisor for best business practice of member airlines and also managed the individual country business plans for the strategic markets across the Americas.

During more than 15 years prior to Star Alliance, Alexander held numerous positions at Lufthansa German Airlines and was based in East Meadow, New York. His responsibility included leisure and business travel sales. He was instrumental in the implementation of the cooperation with United Airlines in his role as General Manager Sales, USA. His experience covers online marketing, consumer satisfaction, growth and business strategy, organization development, alliance business, and sales and marketing.

Alexander holds a degree in Travel and Tourism from the Suitbertus College in Dusseldorf, Germany.
