SINGAPORE – Agoda.com, Asia’s global hotel booking site and part of Nasdaq-listed Priceline.com Inc., today announced a partnership with the Protea Hospitality Group, Africa’s largest and leading hotel group with some 90 properties in South Africa and more than 120 continent-wide. Protea Hospitality Group now has access to Agoda.com’s YCS (Yield Control System) – proprietary software through which hoteliers can dynamically control room inventory, prices, content, and promotions.

Protea Hospitality Group will offer 20 properties through Agoda.com in key locations across South Africa. Protea properties range from luxurious safari lodges at the Kruger National Transfrontier Park, to the ultra-deluxe and chic African Pride Hotels in the cosmopolitan hubs of Johannesburg and Cape Town. Protea Hospitality Group also actively supports social development and environmental sustainability, with policies that aim to protect and nurture local communities.

With more than 25 years’ experience in hospitality, the Protea Hospitality Group has built a reputation for service excellence and superior levels of comfort and style, catering to a wide range of demographics across an offering of 3- to 5-star hotels. In Cape Town, their Protea Hotel Fire & Ice is perfect for hip and chic crowd, with slick modern design, proximity to the city’s hotspots, and a slew of adventure sports such as shark cage diving, hang-gliding, and abseiling that can be arranged in-house. By contrast, the Protea Hotel in historic Stellenbosch provides guests with a serene and scenic experience surrounded by majestic mountain ranges and vineyards, with horse riding, golf, and wine-tasting on the itinerary.

Protea Hospitality Group Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue, Danny Bryer, welcomed the agreement: “Africa and South Africa in particular, offer a world of superior travel and leisure experiences to visitors and the Protea Hospitality Group has the best strategic footprint to ensure a consistent level of fine service and luxurious comfort. Our properties across the Protea Hotels and African Pride Hotels portfolios are all unique in character, but share a service commitment and culture unmatched on the African continent.”

Mr. Robert Rosenstein, President of Agoda.com, said: “South Africa offers many great destinations the pristine beaches, vineyards, wildlife safaris, and a vibrant culture. This partnership with the Protea Hospitality Group will create more opportunities for Agoda customers to enjoy these popular and unique travel experiences.”
