WestJet reports that it will flew 50,336 guests on 434 flights on Dec. 23, setting a new single-day record for the airline. The previous record was 49,545 guests on 418 flights, set on Oct. 8, 2010, the Friday of the Thanksgiving long weekend.

On average, WestJet flies approximately 40,000 guests per day across its 70-city network each day. “Christmas is the busiest travel period of the year and today, we’re thrilled that more people have chosen to fly with us today than ever before,” said Bob Cummings, executive vice-president, Marketing, Sales and Guest Experience.
