NEW YORK, NY – Martinique’s vibrant and festive Holiday traditions will be on display in New York once again as the Martinique Promotion Bureau/CMT USA will host its second annual Chanté-Noël celebration on December 11th at the French Institute Alliance Française located at 22 East 60th Street in Midtown Manhattan.

A feast for the senses including all that makes the Holiday Season in Martinique so special, the Chanté-Noël event in New York is the next best thing to actually experiencing the Holidays in the Isle of Flowers. Guests are invited to sing along to traditional carols sung in a distinctly Creole fashion and enjoy a delicious Holiday meal.

In keeping with Martinique tradition, the Chanté-Noël menu features a smoked caramelized ham marinated in advance for a couple of days, warm petits pâtés, yams, boudin créole (a spicy West Indian sausage), and a spicy pork ragout with congo peas, all topped off with the Bûche de Noël, or Christmas log, for dessert. For the Holiday toast, celebrants will enjoy Martinique’s marvelous shrubb liquer, made from the dried peels of oranges and trangerines prevalent during the Christmas season, sugarcane syrup, and white rum.

The event concludes with a raffle of two round-trip tickets to Martinique, courtesy of American Airlines.

“We’re quite pleased and proud to provide our friends in New York with the gift of our culture and traditions through this Holiday celebration,” said Muriel Wiltord, director, Americas for the Martinique Promotion Bureau/CMT USA. “It is our hope that they will be inspired by what they experience at Chanté-Noël to visit Martinique in 2011 and for years to come.”
