A group of German tourists who chased a grizzly bear and her two cubs in Lake Louise, Alta., were fined $750.

According to 660 News, the three tourists were fishing with relatives living in Canada, when they spotted a grizzly mom and her two cubs. The Germans were so excited about the sighting all they thought of was getting a photo, said defence lawyer Brian Pfefferle.

The National Post reports a woman saw the tourists start to chase the animals and phoned park attendants.

The judge in the case said there’s a reason grizzlies are called wild animals.
