Taipei, Taiwan – The Taipei International Travel Fair, set to kick off next month, will feature over 1,200 booths from 60 countries, making it Taiwan’s most anticipated tourism event of the year, the organizers announced Tuesday.

Organizers said the fair is the biggest of its kind in Asia and that visitors can expect discount bargains ranging from hotel stays to air tickets, all the way to theme park admission tickets, at the event to be held at Exhibition Hall 1 of the Taiwan World Trade Center Nov. 5-8.

Taiwan Visitors Association Chairman C.S. Chou said the scale of this year’s event makes it the biggest in history, with exhibitors going all-out to give visitors the travel bug by offering unique tourism packages at rock-bottom prices.

In addition to the usual participants such as the U.S., Japan, South Korea, Europe and Latin America, Saipan and Jordan will make their debuts at this year’s event, he said.

“Taiwan has much to offer to our foreign friends, from beautiful natural landscape to delicious food. Our hospitality is also well-known. Many foreign tourists who have come here say they were warmly received everywhere they went in the country. We are one of the favorite destinations for Japanese and Chinese tourists because of the similarities in culture and the close geographic proximity, ” he said.

Chou said that so far this year, Taiwan has welcomed over 4 million foreign tourists. The figure could easily surpass 5 million because of the upcoming Taipei International Flora Expo and the start of direct flights between Taipei and Tokyo, he added.
