Driver charged after Ontario tourist bus crash

BURLINGTON, ONT. — Thirteen people were injured Monday after a bus carrying Mexican tourists crashed into a ditch on the Queen Elizabeth Way in Burlington, Ont.

The bus, carrying 48 people, was returning to Toronto after a day trip in Niagara Falls, Ont., when it lost control and toppled over, coming to rest on its side.

The bus, carrying 48 people, was returning to Toronto after a day trip in Niagara Falls, Ont., when it lost control and toppled over, coming to rest on its side.

Passengers escaped by climbing through the roof hatch or the front window.

The injured, who were taken to area hospitals, ranged in age from 11 to 45 and included students from a Grade 6 class.

None of the injuries was considered serious.

Bus driver Drago Halusan, 59, has been charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
