VICTORIA, Mahé – The Office the President has today announced the appointment of Mrs.

VICTORIA, Mahé – The Office the President has today announced the appointment of Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt to the recently-created post of deputy chief executive officer of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB).

Mrs. Grandcourt completed her Advanced Level Studies at the Seychelles Polytechnic in 1993, following which she obtained the Higher Diploma in Hotel Management from the Singapore Hotel Association Training and Educational Centre (SHETEC) in 1996, and consolidated her experience in the hotel industry before joining Air Seychelles in 1998, where she worked for 8 years as a member of the senior cabin crew.

The new deputy CEO has, over the course of her career, held management positions in the tourism and travel services industry, including 3 years at the Hilton Seychelles from 2006 2009. Until her new appointment, she has been serving as marketing manager at Creole Travel Services.

On announcing Mrs. Grandcourt’s appointment, Seychelles President James Michel said that he was confident that she was well qualified to discharge the duties and responsibilities of her new office. The President also added that ensuring such qualified women held key positions in Seychelles was in line with Seychelles’ new MDG Plus targets, one of which is to ensure greater gender equality at the top levels of government, saying that one of the most important industries of Seychelles needs to have a balanced team of dynamism, experience, energy, and diverse perspectives.

Mr. Alain St.Ange is the CEO of STB and is also an ambassador for eTurboNews, and the Secretary of State, Amb. Barry Faure, is currently chairman of the board.
