The New Mexico Tourism Department has signed an agreement with a company based in Germany to manage the state’s branding, marketing and communication activities in Europe.

The deal involves Mangum Hills Balfour of Munich, which also has offices in London and Paris.

Officials say the firm will consolidate New Mexico’s promotional activities under one agency and act as the office for New Mexico in Europe.

State Tourism Secretary Michael Cerletti says it’s important to send a single message to the European market, which has more than 490 million residents.

New Mexico’s top international markets include Canada, Mexico, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Japan, with China as an emerging market.
