CHICAGO – A United Airlines flight was evacuated Saturday morning at O’Hare International Airport due to a problem in the plane’s cargo area.

United Airlines Flight 611 had just arrived in Chicago from LaGuardia Airport in New York City at about 10:40 a.m., according to an airline spokesman. As passengers were getting ready to depart, there was an indication of a problem in the cargo hold.

An emergency light indicated a possible fire, but when emergency crews arrived and inspected the plane, no fire was found, according to the FAA.

About 40 of the plane’s 144 passengers used emergency slides to safely exit the plane, an airline spokesman said.
